One of Vietnam’s biggest real estate developers, Sun Group, has been given the green light by the central government to launch a new airline, Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA).

The US$99 million project aims to establish a commercial airline  alongside charter flights catering to tourists travelling to key tourism and business destinations in Vietnam.

A key focus will be bringing international tourists to Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam.

SPA’s first flights are expected to launch in late 2025, with the airline planning to operate 31 aircraft by 2030. It is also working on development plans for Phi Quoc Airport.

In addition to SPA, Sun Group operates Sun Air, a private jet service.
