HK Express Airways (HK Express) has launched Hong Kong’s first direct flight to Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, with three weekly services to Changzhou Benniu International Airport (CZX). This new route aims to provide more travel options for both leisure and business passengers.

The inaugural flight on 23 May from Changzhou to Hong Kong departed fully booked, signalling strong demand. Thanks to a codeshare agreement with Cathay Pacific, travellers from Changzhou and nearby cities can connect easily to Cathay Pacific’s global network via Hong Kong.

Jeanette Mao, CEO of HK Express, said: “Changzhou is one of our key expansions in our Chinese Mainland network this year. As our fourth Chinese Mainland destination after Beijing (Daxing), Ningbo and Sanya, we believe this route will attract international visitors to the Yangtze River Delta while offering Jiangsu residents convenient connections through Hong Kong to global destinations.”

She added: “We are committed to offering affordable fares with flexible travel options, and anticipate this Changzhou route will stimulate bilateral tourism, enhance travel experiences, and strengthen Hong Kong’s role as an international aviation hub.”

Changzhou is noted for its blend of historical sites and modern development. Highlights include boating on Tianmu Lake, the ancient Yancheng ruins with a rare triple moat system, and cultural landmarks linked to poets Li Bai and Su Dongpo. Modern attractions feature China Dinosaur Park and the redeveloped Qingguo Lane cultural area. The city is also a significant manufacturing and innovation centre in the Yangtze River Delta region.
