Cambodia’s new Takhmao Techo International Airport will officially open on 10 July with last-minute signage underway.

Phnom Penh International Airport will close permanently on 9 July when all operations will transition to the newly constructed facility. The last flight to operate from Phnom Penh International Airport will be a Korean Air flight.

The new airport has been developed by the Cambodia Airport Investment Company (CAIC)—a partnership between the Royal Government of Cambodia and OCIC.

It is situated in Kandal Province, approximately 27km to south of Phnom Penh’s city centre, connected to the capital by a motorway and eventually by an elevated integrated rail line.

The layout of the Fosters+Partners  terminal building is inspired by the traditional Cambodian headdress adorned by Apsara dancers and mirrors the headdress’ top three points. The building’s two identical half-curved piers reflect the side frame of the headgear.

SIA Engineering Company has signed a JV agreement with CAIC to provide line maintenance services at the airport.
