According to a recent study by Booking.com, many Singaporean travellers are feeling weary about sustainable travel.

Despite 75% of Singaporean travelers expressing a desire to travel more sustainably in the next year, a significant portion feels weary about the impact of their choices. Half of the respondents consider sustainable travel important but not a primary factor when planning trips, with 34% expressing fatigue with hearing about sustainability all the time.

Moreover, nearly half of Singaporean travellers (42%) feel like the damage to the environment is too big to fix, and opting for sustainable choices will not make a difference. Additionally, 31% aren't sure if climate change is as serious as people say it is.

While the desire to leave a positive impact on visited destinations remains strong among 70% of Singaporean travellers, challenges persist. Many feel powerless when sustainability measures are lacking at the destination, with 46% considering sustainable practices futile in such environments.

Industry-wide collaboration is seen as crucial by travellers, with expectations for governments and travel service providers to lead sustainable initiatives. However, there is a call for consistent certification standards and transparent communication to aid travellers in making sustainable choices.

Despite frustrations, sustainable travel experiences are valued, with 72% of travellers from Singapore feeling inspired by witnessing sustainable practices, with many saying that embracing sustainable behaviours enhances travel experiences.
