Vietnam’s tourism has seen strong growth in 2024, with nearly 80% of international visitors coming from Asia. The biggest share—around 60%—came from the South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan, according to a report from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism on December 6.
November was the best month of the year, with 1.7 million foreign visitors, a 20.5% increase from October and a 38.8% rise from the previous year. By the end of November, Vietnam had welcomed over 15.8 million tourists, a 41% year-on-year growth.
South Korea led the way with 4.1 million visitors, followed by China (3.3 million) and Taiwan (1.1 million). Other key markets included the US, Japan, and Australia.
Southeast Asia also showed strong growth, with Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore among the top performers. In Europe, countries like the UK, France, and Italy saw significant increases, helped by Vietnam’s visa exemption policy for nationals from these countries.
Tourism revenue for the first 11 months reached 57.5 trillion VND (about US$2.3 billion), up 17.3% from last year. The Ha Long International Cruise Port also saw a boost with over 2,800 international passengers arriving on the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship in early December. Vietnam is on track to meet its target of 17 to 18 million foreign visitors in 2024.
