Two tourists have died in a freak accident at Bali’s Ubud Monkey Forest.

Two women — one  from France and the other from South Korea —were killed when a massive tree branch fell on them during a severe storm on Tuesday.

Video footage of the incident showed tourists running for their lives as the branch toppled to the ground.

Emergency services and other tourists helped rescue several people who were taken to hospital.

Local police say strong winds and rain were the cause of the tragic accident.

Management at the popular tourist spot said that the fallen branch had been in a “healthy condition” and that regular tree monitoring and pruning had been conducted.
