The Uttar Pradesh government is launching heritage walks across key tourist destinations to offer visitors a deeper cultural and historical experience.

The themed walks will embrace food, eco-tourism, bird watching, history and handicrafts in cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra and Bhadohi.

For food lovers, guided culinary tours will showcase Lucknow’s famous kebabs and sweets, while Varanasi’s renowned kachoris - deep friend pastries - and desserts will be a highlight.

Handicraft enthusiasts can witness the craftsmanship behind Bhadohi’s carpets, Firozabad’s glassware, and Lucknow’s Chikankari embroidery.

Eco-tourism and bird-watching walks will take travellers through  Dudhwa National Park and Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary.

The state’s tourism department is working with local operators to facilitate bookings.

Mukesh Meshram, principal secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department and director general of Uttah Pradesh Tourism, said several historic temples, forts, palaces, and religious sites have been developed with better infrastructure, improved accessibility, and enhanced visitor experiences.

“The focus is not just on attracting more tourists but also on preserving the authenticity of these sites through conservation efforts,” he said.

Additionally, Uttar Pradesh will launch the Dudhwa Festival from 14-16 November at the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. Visitors will have an opportunity to experience guided jungle safaris, eco-camping and authentic village stays with Tharu families.

The event aims to promote sustainable tourism while providing economic opportunities to local communities through craft exhibitions, wellness sessions, and regional cuisine.
