Have you seen the giant, globe-shaped Sphere in Las Vegas? This remarkable structure, situated in the heart of the city, is covered in LED screens that can transform its exterior into various objects, from a giant eye to a basketball or even a smiley face. Soon, Abu Dhabi will be home to its own Sphere, as Sphere Entertainment Co. and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have announced plans to bring this next-generation entertainment venue to the UAE capital.

This will be the world’s second Sphere, following the successful launch of the first in Las Vegas in 2023. James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment, said, “The vision for Sphere has always included a global network of venues, and today’s announcement is a significant milestone toward that goal. Sphere is redefining live entertainment and extending the reach of its transformative impact.”

The Sphere in Abu Dhabi is expected to offer cutting-edge technology paired with captivating storytelling, providing a revolutionary entertainment experience for residents and visitors alike. H.E. Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, stated, "Sphere Abu Dhabi will seamlessly integrate advanced technology with captivating storytelling, creating unforgettable memories for everyone who visits."

This partnership aligns with Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to establish the city as a global cultural and innovation hub. The Sphere in Abu Dhabi is set to become a major attraction, offering unique immersive experiences and further elevating the city's entertainment landscape.

Construction will be led by DCT Abu Dhabi, with ongoing support from Sphere Entertainment, who will provide creative content and operational services. The venue is expected to have a capacity similar to the 20,000-seat Sphere in Las Vegas, offering a year-round draw for global visitors.
