JW Marriott has expanded its presence in the Maldives with the opening of JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, its second property in the destination. Located just 15 minutes by boat from Velana International Airport, the new resort features 80 private pool villas, including 47 overwater villas, designed to blend traditional Maldivian aesthetics with contemporary luxury.
“JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island embodies our dedication to blending unparalleled luxury with holistic well-being, offering guests a peaceful escape where every detail is designed to inspire balance and rejuvenation,” said Bruce Rohr, Vice President & Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott.
Luxury meets mindfulness and sustainability
Designed by Atolye4N’s Cuneyt Bukulmez, the resort integrates natural materials, Maldivian design influences, and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Sustainability is also a key focus, with a pioneering underwater coastal structure developed in collaboration with MIT’s Self-Assembly Lab. This 30-metre-long installation helps combat beach erosion while fostering marine ecosystems.
The Spa by JW offers exclusive treatments featuring BABOR’s skincare range, a first in the Maldives, while wellness offerings include sunrise yoga, ocean-view fitness facilities, and a lap pool.
A culinary and family-friendly retreat
The resort features seven dining venues, including:
Veyo, serving international dishes with panoramic views.
Athiri, a signature steakhouse with ocean-inspired architecture.
Pure, a farm-to-table concept using ingredients from the JW Garden.
The Family by JW programme offers activities for younger guests, including a Kids’ and Teens’ Club, interactive cooking classes, and a child-friendly swimming pool.
“Our goal is to provide guests with a true sanctuary, where luxury and well-being converge,” said Srikanth Devarapalli, General Manager, JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort.
