If you want to cosy up with the incoming president of the United States, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach, Florida has four memberships for sale – at US1 million a pop.

Often referred to as the Winter White House, Mar-a-Lago will see a lot more of Trump after his second term as US president begins on 20 January.

Mar-a-Lago, a 8-bedroom Spanish-Moorish-Portuguese-Venetian palace is rated the best private club in the world. Suites offer ornately carved and hand-painted Moorish ceilings, spectacular ocean views from balconies and verandas with antique Spanish-tiled mosaics.

Peace and quiet are assured. During Trump's first term as president, the Federal Aviation Administration rerouted air traffic away from Mar-a-Lago to protect the airspace over the Palm Beach property when Trump was there. Security is also assured. Armed guards patrol the property.

Trump bought Mar-a-Lago in 1985 for US10 million. Its value today has been estimated at $US160 million.
