One of the world’s oldest travel companies, Cox & Kings, is set to expand into new international markets including the United States and Australia. Founded in 1758, the UK-based company is now embarking on this next phase under the ownership of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group (AKTG), which acquired the brand in 2019.
The expansion will be led by Jennifer Charlton, newly appointed Managing Director of Cox & Kings. Charlton, who has over 30 years of experience in the travel sector, will continue in her role as senior vice president of sales and business development for the UK and EMEA.
“I am honoured to lead Cox & Kings into this new chapter of global expansion,” said Charlton. “We are building upon our strong foundation and leveraging the extensive network and expertise of AKTG to offer unparalleled travel experiences.”
Since the acquisition, Cox & Kings has been integrated into AKTG’s global Destination Management Company (DMC) network, expanding its operational scale and destination offerings.
“Reimagining a brand as storied as Cox & Kings is both a privilege and a responsibility,” said Manfredi Lefebvre, executive chairman of AKTG. “As we’ve done with other iconic brands like Crystal, we are breathing new life into Cox & Kings, respecting its remarkable heritage while shaping it for a new generation of global travellers.”
Cox & Kings launched a revamped website in 2024 and now draws on AKTG’s portfolio, which includes safari camps, riverboats and lodges in destinations such as Africa and Egypt, with Peru to follow. The company also incorporates A&K Philanthropy projects into its itineraries in Jordan, Egypt, Peru and across Africa.
“Cox & Kings has a long and storied history of crafting extraordinary travel experiences, and we are pleased to be expanding our reach to a global audience,” said Marett Taylor, chief sales officer at AKTG.
